COGA task force: Action items, summary, and minutes from February 9th, 2026

action items, summary, and minutes from today's meeting. Thank you for

   - @Julie Rawe <jrawe@understood.org> to cancel next Monday's COGA
   meeting due to a federal holiday in the U.S. (This decision was made after
   consulting with Lisa.)
   - @Eric Hind <ehind67@gmail.com> to try reworking (in a google doc) a
   few of COGA's paragraph-style definitions using the same style as WCAG 3
   definitions <https://w3c.github.io/wcag3/guidelines/#glossary>, which
   have a relatively short phrase that can be substituted into the sentence
   with the glossary term, followed by separate glossary components for notes
   and examples.
   - @Bradley-Montgomery, Rachael <rmontgomery@loc.gov> to ask the AG to
   discuss creating an agreed-upon diagnostic list so we can align on things
   like how to write out the full name of ADHD.

   - Slashes: Should we have spaces before and after slashes

      - Compare “and/or” to “and / or”: Len and Tiffany said it’s easier to
      read with the spaces around the slash.
      - We discussed in general trying to use slashes more judiciously in
      V2 of Making Content Usable.
      - We noted most of the slashes are in glossary definitions, which are
      currently written as paragraphs.
      - Could some definitions be rewritten to avoid using a slash, such as
      using phrases like “one or more of the following” and a bulleted list?
   - Stick with "AD(H)D" or change to* “ADHD”?*
      - We noted that Making Content Usable seems to be unique in its use
      of parentheses in this acronym.
      - We noted many sources including the CDC, NHS, and WHO use ADHD.
      - We agreed to remove the parentheses in the acronym in V2 of Making
      Content Usable.
      - We still need to sort out how we will write out the full name of
      ADHD, which may need to include a slash mark: attention
      deficit/hyperactivity disorder. 😀
