AAR Community Group - new direction and review work

Hi all,

It has been quite some time since we last got together to discuss work within the Advancing Accessibility Resource Community Group and we appreciate your patience as we were on hiatus figuring out what direction this group should go.

We are excited to let you know that we have been asked by WAI staff to help in reviewing some updates that are happening right now and some that should be coming up in a few months.

The first thing that we are being asked for right away is our input on is the latest WCAG-EM Draft Group Note<https://w3c.github.io/wai-wcag-em/>. A general call was made to a few groups, but I don't think that there has been much uptake on that request, so we are asking this group as well. Below is the email from the draft co-editor, Hidde de Vries. Please note the specific feedback they are looking for during this review period, and how to provide your feedback (through their GitHub).  The original email was sent on March 6th, so there are about two weeks left in the review period for those of you who have time to review this update.

The second thing that we have been asked to review in the near term are updates to the WAI Tutorials<https://www.w3.org/WAI/tutorials/>.  They are being actively worked on by someone that has limited recent developer experience, so there may be questions that need developer input if anyone has that skill set to help (but we will invite everyone to review, regardless of technical knowledge). As soon as we have information about the Tutorials, questions being asked, and information needed from the community group, we will be in touch.  This is something that we will manage directly through our community group's GitHub instance.

In the coming months, we are expecting more content edits to occur throughout the WAI website, and the WAI staff will be asking us for help in reviewing those edits as well, so potentially lots of work for this group to do to help better the resources on WAI!

Dear all,

With your ok, we've recently published WCAG-EM 2 as a Draft Group Note (thanks!). We intend to publish it as a Group Note next.
Before sending out the CFC for the move to Group Note, we'd like to invite your feedback!

From today, a 3 week review period starts, where we invite your thoughts. We'll address small things as we go, and add bigger things to your backlog for the next publication.

We'd especially like your review comments if you are:

- someone who reports on WCAG (evaluations/assessments/audits etc)
- someone who receives WCAG reports, for instance as a developer, designer, project manager, procurer or regulator

A quick recap of what happened since version 1:

- wider applicability: instead of 'websites' we talk about 'digital products', a wider category that includes websites, apps, and more
- point to WCAG 2 instead of 2.0, and other tweaks to futureproof
- simplified language here and there

Specific feedback we'd like:

- Are all digital products that evaluators commonly evaluate covered by this methodology, or are any explicitly excluded?
- Does the terminology of 'sample set' and 'sample' match how evaluators use it in their evaluations?
- Is this new version more useful for evaluators when they evaluate apps?
