Hello all,
During our last call, Gerry had suggested that we might consider
making a table of characteristics/candidates to get an overview
of what we have.
I've lost track of who was supposed to do what (did anyone actually
get an action item? ;-) but since time is pressing, I sat down
and doodled some thoughts myself.
I found it a very instructive exercise -- in terms of really getting
the candidates more firmly shaped in my mind than simply from
reading their bios. I would urge everyone to spend a bit of time
on it themselves. To that end, I attach the list of characteristics
and format I used (drawn from J-F A's & Phil's comments on "what
makes a good director", as well as our own questionnaire).
I will send along my own thoughts in a separate mail -- I think we
should discuss towards a common view, if that's possible, but would
like to give everyone the possibility of starting from a fresh slate.
The one thing I will say is that I found the "ranking" thing only
moderately useful -- all of our candidates are pretty strong, and
the only thing is that there are "grey" areas or unknowns. So, even
if we agree on relative strengths of the candidates, we can't write
a program to pick the winner ;-)
It does take a bit of time to go through the bios in this level of
detail -- but I think it can significantly help us if people put the
time into it.
Leslie.
