I agree with Harald that such a comment in the HTTP/1.0 spec is a good idea and will alert people to a potential problem. I hope that the better Web servers implement it. I don't see it as conflicting with current practice. I think Larry's suggestion is excellent and should definitely be considered for HTTP/1.1. It is not hard for us to specify, not hard for HTTP server writers to implement, and not hard for Web client writers to implement or simply ignore.
