Metadatamatic: A new tool to easily describe an RDF dataset, in RDF

Hi,

[ https://wimmics.github.io/voidmatic/ | Metadatamatic ] is a tool to create the RDF description of a dataset using a simple web form. It requires no prior knowledge of dataset description vocabularies and lets you generate a new description or expand an existing description. The tool is a website hosted on GitHub.
Since our first email in January, we have improved Metadatamatic and we have partnered with the [ https://fair-checker.france-bioinformatique.fr/ | FAIR-Checker team ] to offer on-demand evaluation of the FAIRness of the dataset description generated by Metadatamatic.

To help the effort of RDF dataset description, we offer Metadatamatic to the community, with new features.
The properties it uses have been chosen according to the choices made in different sources, such as the DCAT standard, the DCAT-AP specification from the European Commission, or the concertation done by the COST KG working group. Similarly, the equivalences were chosen after a review of the classes and properties used in the community and are listed in [ https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Wimmics/voidmatic/master/data/equivalences.ttl | an RDF document ] .

Metadatamatic was created after our experiments for project [ https://hal.science/hal-03946680# | Indegx ] , showed that very few RDF bases contained their own descriptions. Of the 339 bases taken from the LOD Cloud, LinkedWiki, and other sources, only 33 contained some kind of provenance information and only 10 had a .well-known/void file.

Please note that the endpoint URL you input into Metadatamatic, and only the endpoint URL, may be collected by the WIMMICS research team for research purposes between 05/09/2023 and 30/06/2024. You can deactivate the data collection on the website.

Please send any remarks, improvements, or bug reports to [ https://github.com/Wimmics/voidmatic | its repository ] .

Apologies for cross-posting.

Cheers,

Pierre
