Not a dumb suggestion at all. However, N3 is a proper superset of what the RDF 1.2 WG is chartered to add to RDF. Further, there are two different groups of people involved, with different pressures on what they will produce. But that doesn't mean that the N3 community group should produce something that is not an extension of RDF 1.2 or not semantically compatible with RDF 1.2.
