Open position for a PhD Student & Researcher (100%) on Streaming Knowledge Graphs, to join the Institute of Informatics, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO) (https://www.hevs.ch/), Sierre, Switzerland

Starting Date: 1st of February 2023 (or common agreement)


Topic

The successful applicant will join a team of researchers working on Artificial Intelligence applied to sustainability and healthcare. The research topic of the PhD will be centered on Streaming Knowledge Graphs in Decentralized Environments (expertise in Knowledge Graphs is a plus). The PhD will be linked to and funded by a Swiss National Science Fundation project in this area, with a use case in eHealth & smart devices.


Work environment

================

- The successful applicant will join the Institute of Informatics and participate to the activities of the newly created SENSE Research and Innovation Center (https://the-sense.ch ), in collaboration with the CHUV hospital.

- The PhD student will enroll a PhD program in a (Swiss) university and will be funded by our research institute, and co-supervised by a professor at HES-SO.

- The applicant will have strong autonomy and will be able to participate in national and international projects and collaborate in interdisciplinary publications.

- The offices are in the heart of the Swiss Alps, close to several ski resorts. Many outdoor sports are possible during the whole year (skiing, hiking, etc.).


Requirements for the position

=========================

- Master in Computer Science

- Experience in Data and Knowledge management.

- Knowledge Graphs and Semantic Web technologies

- Experience in Distributed/streaming computing is a plus.

- Experience in eHealth is an advantage.

- Machine learning libraries, frameworks and models is a plus

- Knowledge of Python or Java/Scala

- Excellent social skills for collaboration with academic and industrial partners.

- Excellent knowledge of English

- Knowledge of French or German is a plus.
