DecisionSoft are pleased to announce the first public release of Pathan 2, an open source implementation of XPath 2 for Xerces-C. Pathan 2.0.0alpha implements the May release of the XPath draft specs. XPath 2 is the next iteration of the XPath node selection language. Much of XPath 2's new functionality is related to the availability of XML Schema type information. This allows access to, creation of, and manipulation of instances of data types from your schema(s). Parameters to XPath 2 functions are typed using XML Schema datatypes (both built-in and user designed).
