Yes, since your message had been posted on a list (xmlschema-dev@w3.org)
dedicated to W3C XML Schema, I had assumed that you wanted to use this
language :-) . Wasn't it the case?

No, this should be possible with pretty much any XML schema language,
including DTDs! What's the problem with the DTD you've indicated?
