base64 element performance issue

Hello all,

I use the base64 encoding type for one of my schema element.

When I incorporate "rather big" base64 encoded content (over 20-30 Ko), I
encounter serious performance issue with my editor (XML Spy suite 4.2), as
it must validate the content.

Is there a way to bypass type-checking while developing, with a specific
directive or something the like ?
