Micah, The XML Protocol WG has decided to close editorial issue 357 [1] with the resolution described below. The issue was raised by you as part of a larger set of comments on SOAP 1.2. The specific comments addressed as part of issue 357 are: e) [Part1 5.4.6 SOAP Fault Codes] Please change the name of the "DataEncodingUnknown" fault code to the more accurate "SOAPEncodingUnknown". f) [Part1 5.4.8 SOAP mustUnderstand Faults] The name "Misunderstood" suggests that the processor incorrectly attempted to do something. "NotUnderstood" is a more accurate name. For e) we chose to maintain the name "DataEncodingUnknown" as "SOAPEncoding" can be misunderstood to refer to the specific encoding provided in SOAP 1.2 part 2. The fault code in question can be used with any encoding scheme used. For f) we agreed with the proposal and changed the name to "NotUnderstood". We hope that you find this resolution acceptable. If not then please send your concerns to the <xml-dist-app@w3.org> mailing list [2] indicating the issue number of the issue in the subject.
