Thanks for replying.
That's exactly my point: when I was looking at http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath,
there was no way of knowing that there is a new version out there.

IHO, There should be a link to the Latest and Greatest version on that (and
other) pages.

Which page do you mean? If you mean http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath, it does 
not mention XPath 2.0 because it didn't exist at the time that page was 
created.
