Summary: Ability to "deprecate" elements in a schema

           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Structures: XSD Part 1
        AssignedTo: cmsmcq@w3.org
        ReportedBy: derekaj@us.ibm.com
         QAContact: www-xml-schema-comments@w3.org

We have published an extension architecture which is primarily defined through
an XML schema. We would like the ability to deprecate out-dated elements as we
move our architecture forward, so our XML validators would have the chance to
flag them.
