After defining a top-level element such as

 <element name="elements" type="..."/>

you can define 'aliases' using the substitution group feature:

 <element name="Elements" substitutionGroup="xxx:elements"/>
 <element name="Emelents" substitutionGroup="xxx:elements"/>
 <element name="elemEnts" substitutionGroup="xxx:elements"/>
