regexp mistake??

Can it posible there's  a regexp mistake on line 1830 of the schema for
schemas? (www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema.xsd)

It reads:

'(([a-zA-Z]{1,8}(-a-zA-Z0-9]{1-8})*'

what's up with the 3 parenthesis on the left?
