Simple question

Hi, 

I just started looking at XLINK today. It seems that I cannot get the
browser to display it right. For example:

<a xml:link="simple" href="http://www.cnn.com>CNN</a>

I can't clink on "CNN" and get to that location. Does anyone know what I
am missing?
