Entity definition in XML Schema

In order for XML Schema to replace DTDs, it has to provide a way to
define what entities mean.
I'm writing a sentential logic program that uses XML-based save files,
and I need to use entities for characters like and, or, and implication.
I can't do this now without a DTD.
