obsolete keywords

I would adivce to search for obsolete keywords in specs, like derivedBy, I saw at least one in Part I,
I were not able to find explicit note about which content type is used when content models and attributes are contained directly under complexType. It makes unclear is it possible to use this shortcut to declare empty content.
