Thanks, that example was FULL of bugs.  Renews my determination to get
example-inclusion working properly. . .

The correct example should read

   <type name="length1" source="non-negative-integer" derivedBy="extension">
    <attribute name="unit" type="NMTOKEN"/>
   </type>
