the second example in section 2.2, (Q8),  uses unencumbered braces to
denote a computed attribute value. the related text makes reference to
the "unresolved" issue 57 concerning encapsulation.

the grammar, on the other hand - both in the text and in the appendix,
would appear to have resolved the issue in favor of encapsulation.

what do the editors intend here?
