root() in XPointer

Does the root() function still exists as the Dec. 6 working draft of
XPointer? It's mentioned twice in the draft but only in passing, and
it's not mentioned at all in the XPath 1.0 spec. The two times it's
mentioned seem like they could be accidental holdovers from an
earlier draft.

The root() function is mentioned in 1.3 in the [Definition:] root
section and in the definition of the preceding node in the
non-normative B3.
