Dear friends,

AIS SIGSEMIS Bulletin has been established as one of the key reference points for the Semantic Web and Information Systems Research. It is more than motivating fur as to have visitors from more than 90 countries and to have established a rate of more than 10.000 downloads from our bulletin. We want to thank you for your continuous support and please accept my personal invitation to be part of this publication. I would be more than happy to receive proposals for new columns in this edition (just send an email to <mailto:Lytras@ceid.upatras.gr> Lytras@ceid.upatras.gr) as well as proposals for special issues in our Research Articles section.

In the following table you can find some interesting statistics for our portal at <http://www.sigsemis.org/> www.sigsemis.org for which I have to say a GREAT thank you to my colleague Nikos Korfiatis.

In this issue we have the honor to host an excellent interviews of Professor Thomas Davenport, a man who has influenced the Research and Practice of Knowledge Management. In this issue there are several interesting pieces of news:

· News from AIS SIGSEMIS activities (Call for papers in special issues, sponsored minitracks and workshops)

· Reports for three AIS SIGSEMIS sponsored events:

o A report on our Semantic Web and Information Systems Track in ECIS 2005

o A report on ONTOSE 2005

o A report on FOMI 2005

· Two research articles

· Our regular columns and a short presentation of a just published edited book

I would like also to share with you an interesting piece of news. As the Editor in chief of the International Journal of Knowledge and Learning, published by Indersience ( <http://www.inderscience.com/ijkl> http://www.inderscience.com/ijkl) I invited all the European Union funded R&D projects of the FP6 under the action line Semantic-based Knowledge Systems to contribute to a double special issue their vision for Semantic-based knowledge systems. I am happy that almost all the scientific coordinators accepted my invitation. This special issue is planned for the spring of 2006 (A similar issue is organized for USA and Australasian projects). This initiative is in close collaboration with IJSWIS, our IJ on Semantic Web and Information Systems (EIC: Amit Sheth), where a selection of leading edge articles will be considered for publication. Given this opportunity we are more than happy to have the 3rd issue of IJSWIS published already with three HIGH QUALITY RESEARCH ARTICLES:

· 'The Human Semantic Web Shifting from Knowledge Push to Knowledge Pull' by Ambjorn Naeve, The Knowledge Management Research Group, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

· 'General Adoption Framework: Enabling Interoperability for Industrial Web Resources' by Olena Kaykova, Oleksiy Khriyenko, Dmytro Kovtun, Anton Naumenko, Vagan Terziyan, and Andriy Zharko from University of Jyvaskyla, Finland

· And 'A Context-Based Approach for Supporting Knowledge Work with Semantic Portals'
by Thomas Hädrich, Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany and Torsten Priebe, University of Regensburg, Germany

This academic year was very tough for me personally. I put a lot of my energy to AIS SIGSEMIS as well as to the planning of several editions. But I am happy that your support is our power.

I invite you to join our SIG and be part of an exciting community: ( <http://www.sigsemis.org/sig/membership/document_view> http://www.sigsemis.org/sig/membership/document_view). In your renewal of AIS subscription consider SIGSEMIS as an interesting option.

Looking forward for your comments, ideas, participation and inquiries. AIS SIGSEMIS is not a close club. It is an open forum. Be part of this exciting community.

Semantic Web technology is here to stay. Looking forward to "see" you in one of the forthcoming AIS SIGSEMIS activities.

HAPPY SUMMER HOLIDAYS

On behalf of SIG SEMIS Board
