I'm curious all this conversation on using IRC makes it appear that most
have access to IRC.

My IT department flat out rejected my request for IRC access. Okay, I'm an
IRC neophyte -- maybe I didn't phrase the question to them correctly. So,
let me ask the group.

1) Those of you in corporate environments, do you have IRC access?
2) Through your firewall?
3) Do you use any special tools/setup?
4) Any helpful hints on how to approach my IT department and get this
through?

We return you to your regularly scheduled programming...
