NFS messages are not self-describing.

[Mind you, I'm not sure that it's reasonable to call ANY messages 
"self-describing" except in the purely syntactic sense. Self-describing 
semantics would be philosophically interesting.... But I guess I should 
kick over that soap-box before I stand on it....]
