The more I look at the diagrams in this document the more mysterious they become. For example, the diagram for section 2.14.2 is almost identical to the diagram for section 2.3.2 (the only difference is within the innermost application processing layer), but the 2.14.2 diagram is supposed to represent a "conversation instance that may take days, weeks, or months", while the 2.3.2 diagram is supposed to represent a single request/response. This is mysterious. In fact the long-running conversation could include almost any of the previous scenarios. And therefore its diagram should include their diagrams somehow. It is self-evident (I think) that some symbolic representation of the scenarios is needed. But it seems that the kind of diagrams that are used in this document are not quite right.
