That's a question better targeted at the parser developers (libxml and OpenSP 
and their Perl interfaces XML-LibXML and SGML-Parser-OpenSP).  On the other 
hand IIRC the validator.nu HTML5 validator does already provide more context 
for many errors/warnings, but the W3C validator doesn't currently use it.

I filed this as http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=9376 so it won't 
be forgotten.
