I'm not sure if this is a W3 site issue, or a validator bug, so I'm reporting the problem to the list and copying it to the site-comment account. I've checked the bug database and can't find a record of this problem. If the markup as provided is submitted to the HTML Validator via the upload method, the validator returns the following error: Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 15 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication. The error was: utf8 "\x85" does not map to Unicode The problem is caused by the ellipses characters in the

When these characters are removed the markup validates successfully.
