Yes, HTML5 direct input is broken in the current version of the validator (the 
W3C one, not validator.nu HTML5 one) in a way that makes it flag almost 
anything valid.  This is already fixed in the development version and will be 
deployed in the soon to be released W3C validator v0.8.6.
