And see http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/#C_1 too. Throwing IE in to quirks
mode is usually a bad idea and should be avoided unless you really
know what you are doing.

Better yet, avoid XHTML as text/html, it is badly underspecified, and
provides no client side advantages over HTML.
