Validator fault message

Dear Madams and Sirs

Thanks a lot for the great service you giv with your validator.

I tried to validate an HTML document.
The validator gave a fault message.

e.g.

8.)Line 53, column 11: end tag for element "P" which is not open

</p>
-------

I checked my document and found no error.
I put a <ul> list in a <p> paragraph.
Everytime i've done this igot this fault message.

Is it a buug of the validator or is it wrong coded?
