Either remove the password protection temporarily, copy the document to 
an alternate location and validate from there, or save the file and 
validate by file upload.

If you're using Firefox or Mozilla, you can also use the Web Developer 
toolbar extension [1], and you can select "Validate Local HTML", which 
will post the source of the current page off to the validator.  That 
actually uses the WDG Validator, but it's the quickest way I've found to 
do it.
