Command Line Version of the Validator

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know I've produced a command line version of
the CGI scripted W3C Validator. Anyone familiar with the original will
spot vast similarities. However, the command line version has no in-line
HTML in the code (and so lacks a bit of the functionality). It does,
however, offer "bulk" checking, and also a sort-of "interactive" mode
which is useful for integration with other applications.

The integration aspects of the command line version were my main goals
in producing it. With a following wind, W3C checking will be integrated
into the forthcoming Pre-Emptive Search Appliance product (a web search
engine for intranets and web sites). I'd love it if it to into many
other things too - something that's not all that easy with the CGI
version.

Meanwhile, take a look at what's done so far at
http://www.coofercat.com/stuff/w3c/ - There's more to do, mostly in
areas such as presentation, documentation and maintenance. However, the
script itself seems to be pretty robust and looks to be working pretty
well.

Please let me know your thoughts on this - feedback always welcome.
