A suggestion from Jake on 2004-07-09 (www-validator@w3.org from July 2004)

Hey, when I was trying to validate a php page (i.e. index.rc1.php) it wouldn't take it, I had to switch it to a HTML page. As a suggestion, you should make it so that it execpts php files.

Oh yeah, my file didn't have any php in it yet, just HTML and CSS.
