Whether http://validator.w3.org/check/referer works depends on your
browser setup, the browser must send an "Referer:" HTTP header and
all proxies on the way to validator.w3.org must pass the header along.
If it does not work, either your browser does not send the header or
something between your browser and validator.w3.org removes it. If you
use some proxy server or firewall/security/privacy/ad-blocker/etc.
software you should either turn Referer header filtering off or change
the link to http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=... or live with it.
