Validator needs to receive the Referer HTTP header, it'll work correctly
then.  Note that you will have to follow (usually "click") on the link
to get your user agent to send the header, you can't just type it into
the location bar.  Some "anonymizer" or "internet security" applications
may snip the header as well.
