charset iso-8559-1 wrong?

I just tried to validate the main index page of our home page.  The validator
complains about the charset which is set to iso-8559-1:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8559-1">

I also checked with nsgmls which says that the page is correct.  So what's
wrong with our page (http://www-c724.uibk.ac.at/).
