checklink: what does this error mean?

When I check my document for link validity I get the following error:

      What to do: This is a server-side problem. Check the URI.
      HTTP Code returned: 500
      HTTP Message: Server Error
      Lines: 36

However, that URL works fine, and has worked fine for ages.
