http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=14306

Summary: Strict DTD with text/html content-type
           Product: Validator
           Version: HEAD
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: check
        AssignedTo: dave.null@w3.org
        ReportedBy: majuki@yahoo.com
         QAContact: www-validator-cvs@w3.org

In the documentation for XHTML 1.0 it states that content-type text/html may be
used, so long as it adheres to Appendix C (Compatibility Guidelines). In
Appendix C.2 it states that minimized form of tags is to be used for all empty
elements.

The validation comes back as valid with closed empty elements.
