This would be a question for whomever manages your proxy servers, web
browsers and workstations, not the webmaster.

I don't know of any such software that would munge referers to
reference localhost, but plenty exist that change it to, for example,
"XXXX:XXXXXXX" or (worse) "Field blocked by outpost".
