Yep, looks like we're pretty much on the same page about this graph stuff. I think straightforward .connect() chaining will be a powerful way to solve the simple case for v1. After seeing how users handle the more complex case, perhaps a more complex solution involving full-fledged graph node functionality would be a viable consideration for v2.
