DOI Foundation on URIs

Updated 17 June 2009 :

"As noted by W3C and IETF (in RFC 3305), there is fundamental
confusion as to the relationship of URL, URN, and URI. This cannot be
easily rectified as there are two incompatible views: these are
irretrievably confused in documentation (which in addition is poorly
version controlled); the W3C web site is out of date on the topic."

I'm not sure what they're referring to, but thought people should be
aware that W3C public relations around URIs may be less than optimal.
