Conical gradients

Hi all

Has the idea of adding conical gradients been discussed before?

Given their ubiquity in vector editors, it would be strange if it hasn't.
 I did a quick search but didn't find anything in the archives.  Although
this type of gradient has several names, so it may have been discussed
under a different name.
