How to serve SVG to those UA that accept it, and HTML to those that do not?

How to serve SVG in preference to HTML?

How to serve SVG to those UA that accept it, and HTML to those that do  
not?
ie image/svg+xml

however this does not seem to be possible**
'using traditional content negotation...'
with apache

Has anyone  any experience and  success with this?
