IANA MIME Type

I have a question:  Is the SVG MIME type officially recognized by the IANA?

http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/image/

I notice that it's included in the mime.types file of Apache since 1.3.x:

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/httpd/httpd/branches/1.3.x/conf/mime.types
