8.2 "Path data animation is only possible ... exactly the same list of path data commands ..." This appears to forbid step animation of different path data. Is that the intent? 8.2 pathLength: "The author's computation of the total length of the path..." Given that an implementation is supposed to use the ratio of this value to the calculated path length, might this be better described as the length of a mapping of R^1 to the path? 8.3.1 "Because of line length limitation with certain related tools... not exceeding 255 characters." The specification should not be giving authoring hints to deal with broken tools. 8.3.1 "Also note that newline characters are only allowed at certain places within path data." According to the BNF, newlines are permitted anywhere whitespace is allowed in the path data.
