There are many known bugs with the Java bindings from the March 3 spec.
Developers have had to resort to fix the bindings themselves manually.

The next version of the spec will create the Java bindings after running
the SVG IDL file through an IDL-to-JAVA tool, and so most/all of the
problems should be fixed.
