SVG document as a string

Maybe there is a way to do this, but I did not see it. I would like to
specify my SVG document as a string without having to write a file or
reference a URL. The reason for this, is that I would like to generate my
SVG document dynamically using XSLT. Creating the DOM inside the SVG
component programmatically is possible but a pain.
