OK, having all agreed that the list's public facing element could be friendlier on newcomers can I suggest I make a small page on how the www-style list works, what we do, and how to get involved (clearly, in one place)?

Is there something like that already which i never found, or would it be new content? If I create such a page would I need to be aware of any style-guides I need to follow or could I do more or less whatever I want?

I'd like to see more movement on how to proceed with getting the nabble presentation of the list moved forward somehow, or at least get concensus on what our approach will be on making the existing online-archive more friendly.
