It appears to not affect other elements. View in Safari 5.

The <h1> header margin-top which has collapse into the margin of <body> 
does not change. The margin-right on the float shifts the line boxes 
within the <h1> by 50px and does not change.

If things were to change, it would make it hard to incorporate 3D 
transforms within a page.
