All three of these look bad.

In the first, I would expect the padding to produce a uniform space 
around the image since the corners get clipped. I would also expect the 
image not to overlap the border but to abut it.

The second two just look horrid due to the clipping behavior. Text that 
is clipped shouldn't overlap the border.
